The land of Perisno is full of worshippers to many kinds of gods and spirits. These religions carry so much importance that they themselves can be cause for conflict or peace.

The One God[]

-The religion of the original humans (Perilo)…. The one ‘god’.

The perilo humans (mainly the Kingdom of Perisno) worship this god. The physical form of the Goddess (daughter of the One God) was put on Perisno to oversee the humans. She had great powers given to her by the One God, and could manifest at will. The Goddess was commanded to not mate with anyone and would be punished for doing so. She was of extreme beauty and just seeing her in this form would cause any human to be subdued. But she disobeyed, and mated with a Perilo male. The One God was displeased with the Goddess and banished her from ever returning. This new offspring became known as the Naphali and their blood flowed black. The One God made it so, that everyone would know these “people” came from the Goddess that disobeyed him.

Tsaugheim Unification[]

Tsaugheim Paganism is one of the most ancient of all religions in the land. Before the Enlightenment, it was practiced heavily by citizens of the -Tsaugheim Empire. The Pagen gods are fluid in role and have no hierarchy or leader, hence they are worshiped equally. A pagan believes that their gods have an influence on every aspect of everyday life, and therefore are keen to maintain good relations with the ancient spirits. One of the main reasons Tsaugheim split from the original Perilo and their Religion was they didn’t accept The One God.

In lands like Tolrania, Elintor, and the Hakkon Empire, where no religion is dominant, the commoners and many nobles worship the Lord of Faith, who is said to be the one true god. The secretive Church of Faith serves to worship the Lord of Faith and they are the enemies of the Grazir Worshippers, whose every teachings contradict the Church of Faith’s core principles.

The Church of Faith is a very popular religion in modern Perisno. The story of the Lord of Faith's banishment of the Demons at the Battle of Enlightenment, and his subsequent transcendence is a story known to every child in the land. Practice involves communal gatherings to celebrate and commemorate the life of the Lord of Faith, all organized by the powerful Church of Faith and its leader, Grand Paladin Siegfried.",

They are a mysterious group of gods, and little is known about them, but there are rumors that these dragon gods are living on the Isle of the Dragon, and that the Drachen people pay tribute to them yearly. There are three High Priestesses and three High Priests in the Drachen religion, and the role of each differ. One High Priest and High Priestess are in charge of war, another pair is in charge of intelligence, and the final pair is in charge of religious matters. The Drachen Gods are said to be unforgiving and failure is not an option for their followers. While the religion is mainly popular in the Reich, it is beginning to spread into Maccavian culture as more and more neutral Maccavians hope to avoid the conflict between followers of different religions in their land.

Fountain Goddess[]

The physical form of the Goddess was put on Perisno to oversee the humans. She had great powers given to her by the One God, and could manifest at will. She was of extreme beauty and just seeing her in this form would cause any human to be subdued. Despite being commanded to not mate consummate with the mortals, she disobeyed and mated with a Perilo male. The One God was displeased with the Goddess and banished her from ever returning. This new offspring became known as the Naphali, and their blood flowed black. The One God made it so, that everyone would know these “people” came from the Goddess that disobeyed him.

And so The One God saw the wickedness of his daughter, and after her incubation, met her in the fields where the rye was golden. "Behold" He said unto her. "Thy nakedness has been seen from my throne above all of the world. For thou has slept with the man, after becoming like him, to have a body of flesh and blood."

And she saith unto him. "Father, was I not made to do this very thing?"

And he returned to her, saying. "You were cast out of the heavens, so that you would live with man, and learn to live as men, whom you would not pity. For in vanity you looked down upon them, and forsook the becoming of a mother to the motherless, and a comforter to the forgotten. Your heart was lifted up, and you said that in your grace, none was worthy of such. But to man, you must have grace. And as punishment, I sent you here, but you still do not obey."

But the Goddess was unwilling to concede, and she spake unto him haughtily yet again. "My lord, thou have pity on me, being lesser than you. But I have loved a man as I was commanded to love all men. For I know that your compassion is greater than mine, and in this you would not punish me since I have humbled myself and slept with him, for what could be further beneath me than to cleave unto their kind?"

The Creator's anger was greatly kindled, and he said "I told you to love man, but in loving this man, you have loved only yourself. The body you had created was without blemish, perfect, and you choose for yourself among men, he who was nearly without blemish. You have seduced him. You laid carnally with him, when you should have been a mother to the motherless. You loved yourself, and only your love for yourself drove you to partake in the food fit only for those of whom love each other. For I did not say "Thou shalt live with man, and copulate with him, creating offspring." But that thou shalt live with man and comfort him. And when your humility was complete, then the gates of our home would again be open wide to you. And for this carnal deed, you and your offspring will surely be cursed."

And the woman fell on her knees and asked "Lord, should you curse those who are yet even to be born?"

And the Lord of all that was made answered "So as a man may curse his neighbor by damming the river mouth above him, so have you cursed your own offspring by not doing what was good for them. Behold. For Black is your heart, so black shall run your blood. Your children will bleed the color of the heart of their mother. It is a sign between you and them, and how your actions make them suffer. For your body is already very strong. Stronger than any human male. You have made a body for yourself unlike any other, and your children will share this body. The strength of your breath shall go with them, and they shall not want for air when they run unlike the man. Their legs will be like iron, and their hands will be like the roots of a deeply seated tree. For you hoped that your offspring would overtake the children of man--whom you still despise in your heart, but now they will become prey."

"At day, your children will exemplify all the traits of their mother. They will be as strong as bulls, and swift as deer. But when night falls, a softness will fall upon them. Their eyesight will dull, and their strength fades fast. They will run from their adversaries, but their feet will weigh like lead. All those whom they have oppressed will remember the things that were done unto them. They will take vengeance with your children who are weak, and slay them under the moon's watchful eye. They will not have pity, and all the evils that you and your children sought to do will be repaid. I Am the One who has ascribed this. And the world will see that I am just."

"But lord!" His daughter was now crying. "This burden is so great. Shall an entire people suffer for one woman's sin? The other people of the world will see that our blood runs black--they will then say among themselves. "Let us hunt down these abominations whom our Hallowed Father did not ascribe into creation. Until no more black blood is drank up from the earth. They will be filled with envy of our strength, and they will rejoice upon our weakness. Not four generations will pass before me and all my people are destroyed!"

But even then, The One God was just and said "By man's hand your people shall not be destroyed, even by the fourth generation. For I will separate you from them, and when they hear of you, they shall know that your punishment is already just. For at night, before the fourth generation has passed, it will not be man who hunts you down, but it shall be a beast. For the creatures who have lived under the crusts of the earth will migrate upon the surface. And at night they shall hunt your people for food. And the other people of the world shall see this, and they shall know that I am just, for your judgement is in my hands, and the wrath of beasts will be more bearable than the wrath of man. But one day, you shall have a child and he shall remove the beasts of the depths who chastise you, and for a time your children will know peace. But do not attack man, for he is the apple of my eye, and if you make war on him, provoking him or tricking him, I will not withhold him from smiting you, and my eye will show no pity."

"My people will suffer greatly, but I am ready to live in this world, and to suffer through it." The daughter replied.

And so, the Lord of the World and all that is in it, came unto the man who slept with the woman and said "It is a hard thing that she has brought upon her offspring, but you were foolish and allowed yourself to be seduced by her. Now you will take care of her in the days of her impregnation, lest a greater wrath fall from me upon you. For you have laid carnally with her, but your sons shall grow up more carnal than you. With great pride, and seeing that they are stronger than you, they shall contend with thee for power, and you will struggle to lead your family. But with wisdom--not with strength--you may yet guide over them."

Thus all the things that the Creator of our world saith came true, and the beasts who lived under the crusts of the world came out and sought the daughter's children as food. But eventually these beasts were banished from the land, and the remaining people were humbled by the power of the great beasts who preyed upon them. For a time there was peace, and the people isolated themselves from mankind for many generations yet.

Since Goddess Zedecia created the Naphali, they worship her. Eventually she became known as the Fountain Goddess when she established the great fountain in western lands. From the stories written she lives within the fountain itself, though it is said she manifests into her physical form every 300 years to walk among her people, and choose one worthy to lead when she returns back to the fountain.  All Naphali newborn are ceremonially blessed at the Fountain Temple of Elintor, though only the "purest" are greatly blessed, often becoming nobles of Elintor.

Hakkon Inquisition[]

Symbol of the Hakkon Inquisition

Most Hakkonese believe in the Lord of Faith, although they have a twisted version of the religion that comes from their homeland in the Old Hakkon Empire. A corrupt group of priests in the Hakkon nobility, called the Hakkon Inquisition, are the ones leading the religion and they obtain absolute power from that. It is said that even the Emperor must defer to their High Inquisitor, and if an inquisitor deems a Hakkon lord to be a heretic, they can put him on trial anytime and kill him. For this reason, most of the Hakkon nobility live in fear of the Hakkon Inquisition and follow the Lord of Faith, whether they actually believe in him or not.
